Boating Course Offered at Trinity “Boat Virginia”, an official Virginia state boating course for operators of boats and personal watercrafts, will be held at Trinity Ecumenical Church on June 24th and 25th, from 7-10 p.m. The course, lasting both evenings, will cover such subjects as: Choosing the Right Boat, Boat Hulls, Motors, Legal Requirements, Navigation Rules, Cruising, Docking, Anchoring, Knots, Accidents, Alcohol Safety, Fire on Board, Weather, Trailering, Navigation, Water Sports, and Personal Watercrafts. This free instruction is sponsored by State Farm agent Debbie Robbins, The Smith Mountain Lake Boating Association, The Smith Mountain Eagle, The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, The Virginia Department of Game/Inland Fisheries, and Trinity Ecumenical Church. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate, a wallet card, and their name registered with The Department of Game and Inland Fisheries Education division. The course is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators and recognized by the United States Coast Guard. Instructors are certified by the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. Most major insurance companies endorse the course and allow insurance premium discounts to graduates.
