SML Ski Club Promotes Skiing & Fun

   The Smith Mountain Lake Water Ski Club, around since 1989, promotes all forms of water sports.  The club originally started as a water ski club concentrating on competition slalom, trick and jump skiing.  During the early years the club sponsored several statewide tournaments, including the Commonwealth Games.  Over the years the club has had several nationally ranked skiers as members, including Tracy and Jennifer Lamb, Adele and Sara Roach, Rusty Richardson and Mike Ullmann.
   The club has now evolved into a club covering all events, including Slalom, Barefooting and now Wakeboarding.  The club sponsors several events during the summer to include ski, wakeboard and barefoot clinics along with slalom and wakeboard tournaments.  The club follows most events with lunch and a party. 
   The next event for the summer is July 28, followed by a Fun tournament on August 25.  This is followed up with a Christmas Party in December.  The year is then kicked off with a gathering on January 1, where a group of gung ho skiers hit the water regardless of conditions.  We want to be the first skiers on the water each year.
