Growing to Service Better
By Tina Price
The Smith Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce/Partnership has been as busy as buzzing bees with revamping the structure and standard way of doing busy.
At the turn of the year, Larry Altadonna was inducted as the new president for the organization, and since that moment has been working toward his ambitious agenda for the 2002.
“High on the agenda this year is improving chamber member services, revamping the website, publishing a quarterly newsletter, and developing an advertising program to promote lake businesses and tourism,” said Altadonna.
Not only are they extending their services, but they also have increased their membership as well.  The SML Chamber of Commerce/Partnership recently welcomed 21 new members, including Skye Interactive, Captain Bert’s Fishin’ Charters, Adrenaline Air Sports, Kathryn Curling, Curtain Call Productions, Bank of America Mortgage, Rockfish Adventures, Amelia Gentry, Spa & Tub World, Wordscapes, Town & Lake Realty, Plyler Homes & Docks, Trophy Stripers II Guide Service, Lori Shultz-Moore, SML 4-H Educational Conference Center, The Dome Home, LM Turner & Associates, Drift-In Shell Convenience Center, Smith Mountain Lake Pressure Cleaning, and Adelphia Media Services.
The organization has many events, including monthly Business After Hours, fishing and golf tournaments, planned for the future months.
