SML Chamber of Commerce/Partnership
By Morris Johnson, Jr., President SMLCC/P

I would like to start by thanking Micah Gaudio for this magazine and congratulating him on the success of the first issue.  The Chamber has been very busy updating the membership records and the computer system.  This will give us better access to information about our members and services needed.  Mary Ann Marando and her staff at the Visitor Center have done a great job with this project, while keeping the Center open for the 80 to 120 guests per day.   This is in addition to handling all the calls and mailing information requested about our lake and the surrounding area.   Stop by the Visitor Center to look at the changes and meet our professional staff and let them know what a great job they are doing.
The Chamber is in need of one business person from both Bedford County and Franklin County to serve as a Director on the Board for the remainder of this year.  If you are interested, please contact the Visitor Center.
The Chamber has been very fortunate with our two fundraisers this year.  Ron Willard II and his committee put together a great corporate cup golf tournament.  Judy McFadden and the Boating Association organized the most successful Poker Run yet, with 53 boats participating, most of which were from out of state.  This event has become a very big contributor to our economy.  Ron and Judy would like to thank all the volunteers for their hard work in making both of these fundraisers a success.
Thanks for reading The Laker, and I hope you will support it by taking advantage of the advertising opportunity.
