Compassionate CareBy Andie Gibson It’s never easy when a loved one dies, particularly if it’s a spouse. Marian Cunningham, AfterCare Coordinator for Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, helps couples prepare for the end of life with a presentation called “Preparing to Live Alone.” The 15-20 minute seminar covers legal, personal and practical topics important to handle before death occurs. Marian, who has been widowed twice, presents the seminar to Lake-area clubs, churches and other organizations. She also coordinates grief adjustment classes in the SML region and numerous support groups for widows and widowers, parents who have lost children, and those dealing with the suicide of a loved one or pre-term pregnancy loss.
