SMLCC/P Corporate Cup Tee It Up A SML Summer starts with a 1 p.m. Tee Time By Auburn Cecil
Summer at Smith Mountain Lake means daily tee times, boat rides and plenty of fun. The official start of the season comes this year on May 9th. It’s the 9th Annual Corporate Cup, a golf challenge fundraiser that supports the Smith Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce/Partnership. It’s the only way to swing into summer! The Chamber began hosting the tournament in 1997. Each year it alternates between the two exclusive private country clubs in the area – The Water’s Edge and The Waterfront. Not only is the Corporate Cup the perfect way to enjoy a challenging day on the course, but it is one of the primary fundraisers for the Chamber. Working for more than 600 area businesses, the Chamber serves three counties and the immediate lake vicinity. Its mission is to encourage tourism and growth while doing everything from running the official state-recognized visitor’s center to supporting regional tourism. Because this is much more than just a golf tournament, you don’t have to be a serious golfer to get a lot out of this day. It’s the perfect time to meet other lake-area professionals and keep tabs on what’s going on in our community. It has always been said that many of the most important business deals take place on the golf course. As always, players receive green fees, cart, lunch, a cocktail reception and dinner. Prizes are awarded to the top teams in gross and net divisions. The day begins with lunch and a warm-up/networking time. Following the tournament is a cocktail reception and awards dinner. The tournament field is limited to 120 players, so register soon to be part of this event. In addition, the Corporate Cup is an excellent way to showcase your company or even entertain top clients at one of the area’s finest golf courses. Sponsorships of varying levels are available that put your name in front of the area’s top business owners. For more information, contact the Chamber at 540-721-1203, 800-676-8203 or email
