The Reasons Are Clear
By Auburn Cecil

When Butch and Rosemary Traylor built their home at Smith Mountain Lake, there was one thing they just weren’t going to allow – something that would block their view of the beautiful lake. They wanted a railing system for their deck that offered a clear view of the water.
“You’re paying for a lot that lets you enjoy this gorgeous scenery,” said Butch, “so why would you put up something that would obstruct your view? We looked for a local supplier who offered glass deck railing and at the time we couldn’t find anyone.”
Butch and Rosemary didn’t give up. With a lot of research they discovered a company out of Canada selling exactly what they wanted. After installing their own glass railing, they decided that this was a product that everyone at SML could enjoy and they started Clearview Railing.
“When you see the product, you understand how incredible it is,” said Rosemary. “We wanted to offer this to everyone. It’s something that can enhance the view while still providing the safety and security of railing.”
Clearview Railing is an exclusive Excell Railing System installer. The system is IBC and BOCA code compliant and made with tempered safety-glass. Butch explained, “This is one of the most unique and exciting technologies in railing systems around today. The clean lines enhance any décor.”
In fact, the railing turned out to be great for both the interior and exterior, providing excellent options for decks, lofts and stairs. The powder-coated railing is round or rectangular and comes in seven standard colors. They also offer custom color-matching.
Not only is Clearview Railing’s system better for your view of lake vistas, the aluminum fencing is completely maintenance free. Each segment is removable, replaceable and made with durable quarter-inch glass. While it is more expensive than typical picket systems, in the long run you can save on the costs of staining or painting and replacement.
Clearview Railing installs in new construction and will also remove your old decking and replace it with the glass system. They also offer a variety of other maintenance-free aluminum fence systems. For more information, call 540-890-9620.
